Populations at Risk
The safety of all patients is of paramount concern for all care providers.
However, some patients, the very young and the very old, are particularly vulnerable to the effects of medical errors, often due to their inability to participate actively as a member of the healthcare team, most commonly related to communication issues.
Nurses and other care providers need to recognize the special needs of these patients and act accordingly.
